‘The craft of fine writing’ celebrated at the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature

DUBAI – The art of fine writing was celebrated today at the Emirates Airline Literature Festival with a special ceremony to honor the winners of the Royal Grammar School (RGS) Guildford Dubai Children’s Letter Writing Competition.

Celebrating beautiful calligraphy, the RGS Guildford Dubai children’s letter writing competition gives youngsters the chance to show off their letter writing skills, recognizing both the aesthetics of fine writing and the art of composing a well crafted post. Letters were written to an author who had inspired the participant, taking into account the positive theme of this year’s Festival, “Here Comes the Sun”. The competition was divided into two age groups.

Clare Turnbull, Director of RGS Guildford Dubai, said: “What a wonderful way to celebrate the art or letter writing and to encourage the skill of calligraphy. We were so impressed with the eloquence and elegance of the submissions. A love of reading and writing is one of the most important gifts we can give young people. It was a joy to be part of the Festival and to sponsor this contest. This contest reminds children that letter writing is certainly not a lost art, but a craft to be treasured. and admired.”
